Inspired by abstract expressionists Mark Rothko and Jackson Pollock, I have created a new series called 'The Creative Mind' using fused glass and paints. This collection celebrates 'out of the box' thinking in all areas of life and work. Each piece is unique and can be commissioned in different colours and sizes.
Abstract expressionism refers to new forms of abstract art developed by American painters in the 1940s and 1950s, often characterised by gestural brush-strokes or mark-making, and the impression of spontaneity. Abstract expressionism evokes the aim to make abstract art which was also expressive or emotional in its effect. They were inspired by the surrealist idea that art should come from the unconscious mind, and by the artist Joan Miró.
